Problem:

This project was to eliminate damp problems within the kitchen of a lovely stone house in the Cotswold village of Shipton under Wychwood. A strong smell of earth is usually an indication there is a possible damp problem and in this case the abutting raised garden from a neighbour’s property was allowing water to enter behind the kitchen units causing significant damage over a long period of time.

Lowering the ground level around the property was not an option so a Delta Membrane Soak away system was the solution we used to solve the damp problem. Membranes are a great way to protect surfaces from damp and can be used to direct water away from properties due to the cavity formed within its design to allow for movement of moisture and water.

Works completed:

Once the strip out of the damp and damaged Units were removed our oxford damp specialists began to install the sheets of Cavity Membranes onto the walls fixed with plugs that seal once in place. The membrane is taken below the solid floor into preformed recesses. Drainage channels are also installed in the recess that will then collect any water and direct it away to a suitable soak away. The floor is covered with a 20mm thick Cavity Delta Membrane that also ties into the wall membrane completing the fully dry room ready for the new kitchen installation.
