Location: Oxfordshire, and surrounding counties

Type of property: All types of property with timber or damp problems

Services used:

  • Growth
  • Development
  • Training
  • Support

Materials Used:

  • Property Care Association (PCA)
  • Mentorship
  • Apprenticeships
  • NVQ qualification
  • On-the-job training

Problem:

Hiring and retaining people with good quality skills.

We offer apprenticeships and NVQ qualifications to our employees, to show that we are invested in their development, to help them achieve the skills and qualifications they want and need, and to show faith in their commitment to work with us.

Works completed:

Through the Property Care Association, we enrol all our new employees on accredited training courses. (Point of interest – two of our apprentices are photographed in the banner image of the PCA training page)! This can fill the skills gap, train them in how PCS operates, and demonstrate our investment in our people.

  • Specialist Applied-Skills Programme (SAP) in both structural waterproofing and damp & timber
  • NVQ Level 2 – Sub-Structure Work Occupations (Structural Waterproofing)
  • NVQ Level 2 – Insulation and Building Treatments (wood preserving and damp proofing)

Damp Technician, Lee Litton is a prime example of how we work together with the PCA to develop our employees.

Lee was recently awarded the PCAs ‘Apprentice of the Year’, and at the presentation gala the trade body said: ‘Lee is a prime example of how beneficial the apprenticeship can be when students apply themselves.

‘He is a lovely man who did himself and the PCA proud, and he fully deserves the recognition and accolades that will come his way after being nominated apprentice of the year.

‘I congratulate Lee on the dedication, skill and professionalism that is recognised with this award.’
