Problem: The basement was of brick wall construction with a solid floor; the walls had been fitted with an 8 mm mesh drainage membrane with render over, and the floor finished with bonded vinyl and bonded carpet preventing full inspection. The rest of the inspection revealed evidence of groundwater ingress at the wall/floor junction in the basement, resulting in salting to the wall plaster and wet rot to the skirtings.
