Problem:

This Damp Proofing & Drylining project project was carried out on a beautiful stone built detached property located in Middle Barton, Oxfordshire. In recent years there has been a shift in water table, meaning there has been a decrease in the depth below which the ground in saturated with water. This has led to intermittent flooding from ground water entering the new added brick extension at the rear of the house. With this in mind the installation of a Drylining system was agreed which would also increase the thermal performance of the room.

Works completed:

We began this Damp Proofing & Drylining Project project by forming a small channel at the base of the wall to expose the damp proof membrane situated under the screed floor. We then placed a newly fixed mesh coated membrane in the channel and sealed it with natural cement. The mesh coated membrane has fibres on the outer face to allow products to be fixed directly on to it. The mesh coated membrane is fixed in place with 8mm fixings. Once the damp proofing membranes were installed to all wall surfaces (known as tanking) we then fixed plaster board with board adhesive to create a surface ready for plastering.
